Housefly

I had this housefly buzzing around in my window yesterday morning, and on a whim decided to try something crazy. Here’s the result:

Elk!

This weekend I went back up to Soldier Summit for one last visit this year, and we finally managed to attract a herd of elk.

Photos!

I’ve just added a new Photos page in the top-right corner and uploaded a bunch of my nature and wildlife photography. I’ve been meaning to get this stuff online for quite a while and never quite got around to it, but after returning from a hike this weekend and getting some awesome shots, I decided to bite the bullet and get it done.

Speaking of awesome shots, here’s a preview:

I did not use a telephoto lens for this shot... these bumblebees didn't act threatened at all, allowing me to get my lens literally within inches. So awesome!

This guy was a bit less bold, so I had to zoom in from several feet away. That this came out in proper focus is a minor miracle. I love my camera. :)

I do this a lot. There's something about taking close-ups of wildflowers that's really rewarding. Probably because they don't run away from you.

taking shots of random expanses of land that happen to have a cool layout.

There are lots more photos in that album, as well as other albums from past outings, including my favorite to-date, the Oregon coast and Crater Lake. They’re all available at my Picasa page.
