Photos

Among my many hobbies, you’ll find photography. I’m mainly interested in nature and wildlife photography. My photos are currently hosted on Picasa; this page provides an index to the various photo albums there, or you can go directly to my Picasa page with this link.

Studio: I finally got my studio put back together. Well, such as it is… it’ll be much better next year. But in the meantime… pics!

Housefly

Housefly: I had a housefly buzzing around in my window, and on a whim I decided to try to get a good closeup. This album just has the one photo. The only Photoshop work I did was erasing some smeary shadows from the windowsill across the bottom of the image. The striking contrast is 100% the result of the camera’s wide-open exposure.

Dog Lake

Dog Lake: Photos from a short nature hike up Big Cottonwood Canyon in Utah. The highlight of this trip was definitely the massive bumblebees… they were so busy harvesting the wildflowers up there, I was able to get some incredibly close-up shots.

Soldier Summit

Soldier Summit: My dad has been archery hunting at this spot in Spanish Fork Canyon in Utah for like 20 years. When you first pull in off the highway there’s lots of rolling hills covered in sagebrush, and if you’re from around here you’re pretty sick of seeing that stuff, but once you start getting a little creative there are some great shots to be had.

Winter

Winter: We had a snowstorm one night and I thought, “Hey, let’s grab a few shots.” I hate winter with a burning passion, but you can’t deny that sometimes the snow just looks awesome.

Oregon

Oregon: In 2007 we went on a road trip up the Pacific Coast Highway 101 through Northern California and Oregon. Oregon is my favorite state in the U.S., bar none, with some of the most amazing and diverse scenery to be found. This album collects shots from the coast and through inland Oregon, all the way to Crater Lake, which is one of the most incredible and alien places I’ve ever been. (Unfortunately, photography simply doesn’t do that lake justice… but I tried!)
